To apply for a same-day Beijing Entry Permit, you need to visit the Beijing entry checkpoint in person as online applications are not available. Through the Beijing Traffic Police APP's entry permit module, drivers can apply for an electronic Beijing Entry Permit online 1 to 4 days in advance. Upon successful application, a QR code-enabled electronic permit will be issued. During the application process, the applicant is required to provide driver, vehicle, and trip details, along with uploading photos of relevant documents. Once the background review is completed, the applicant will be notified of the result via APP message. By logging into their registered account, applicants can check the validity period of their approved electronic Beijing Entry Permit.
That day I needed to enter Beijing for urgent business and had no idea how to apply for the Beijing Entry Permit for the first time. A friend suggested I use the ‘Beijing Traffic Police’ app. After downloading and registering, I bound my vehicle information, selected the same-day date, and submitted the application. As required, I uploaded photos of the vehicle registration certificate, both sides of the driver’s license, and the compulsory insurance policy—the whole process took just ten minutes. I applied before noon and received an approval SMS by 2 PM, with the electronic Beijing Entry Permit taking effect immediately. It’s advisable to save the document photos on your phone in advance. If the system lags, start early and don’t wait until two hours before departure. Also, note that the permit only takes effect on the same day and is valid for up to 7 days.
