How to align the timing of the Chery Flagcloud 2?

Steps to align the timing for Chery Flagcloud 2: 1. Rotate the crankshaft to align the mark on the transmission with the scale line on the flywheel. 2. Rotate the camshaft to align the mark on the camshaft timing gear with the bottom of the valve chamber. 3. Locate the drive end of the oil pump shaft and align the raised rectangular side with the direction of the crankshaft. 4. Insert the distributor assembly into the mounting hole and secure it properly. 5. Align the distributor rotor with the mark on the housing, then cover with the distributor cap and connect all cylinder wires and internal components. 6. Install the timing belt, start the engine for inspection, and readjust if any issues are found. The Chery Flagcloud 2 measures 4393mm in length, 1682mm in width, and 1424mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2468mm. It is equipped with a 1.5L engine delivering a maximum power of 109kw and maximum torque of 140nm.
I previously helped a friend adjust the timing belt on a Chery Fulwin 2. This job needs to be done step by step. First, rotate the crankshaft clockwise to the top dead center position of the first cylinder, aligning the dot mark on the crankshaft pulley with the triangular mark on the front cover. Then, observe the camshafts—the marks on both camshaft gears must be horizontally aligned and facing upward, matching the notches on the valve cover. Next, install the belt, starting by looping it around the crankshaft pulley, then around the water pump pulley to the camshafts, and finally around the tensioner pulley. After installation, manually turn the crankshaft two full rotations and recheck all marks to ensure they haven’t shifted. The key point is that the belt must not be loose; use the tensioner to apply pressure—the standard is that the belt should twist 90 degrees between the camshaft and crankshaft. Remember to mark the position of the old belt as a reference beforehand. Beginners often accidentally shift the camshaft while rotating it—if the timing is off, you’ll end up with valve collision and a full engine overhaul.
