How to align the timing belt on a Trumpchi GA3S?

Use a timing wheel clamp to secure the timing wheel disc, which effectively prevents the timing wheel shaft from getting stuck. Once the timing wheel shaft is stuck, it cannot be adjusted. Loosen the adjustment knob on the timing wheel shaft using a fine-tuning tool to facilitate subsequent timing adjustments. Align the timing wheel. Locate the colored chain on the timing wheel shaft. Rotate the colored chain found in the previous step until it aligns with the small dot on the timing wheel.
When I used to work on the Trumpchi GA3S, aligning the timing belt was crucial and had to be done step by step. First, stop the engine and ensure the car is parked on level ground, then disconnect the negative terminal of the battery to prevent accidents. Remove the timing belt cover to expose the engine components. You need to locate the alignment marks on the crankshaft and camshaft; the crankshaft usually has a small notch at the top of the engine, and the camshaft also has corresponding marks. Use a wrench to slowly rotate the crankshaft to the top dead center position, ensuring the marks align. After installing the belt, adjust the tensioner until it feels tight but still allows some give, then tighten it to the specified torque using a torque wrench. Finally, manually rotate the engine two full turns to check for smooth operation and no unusual noises. Don’t force it—mistakes can damage the engine, and replacing the belt is easier when done correctly. Remember to regularly inspect the belt’s condition and replace it early if it shows signs of wear.
