How to Adjust the Tightness of a Motorcycle Clutch Cable?

If fine-tuning is needed, you can loosen the lock nut on the clutch lever. Adjust until the free play of the clutch lever is between 10 to 20mm. You can also loosen the lock nut on the clutch control cable. Adjust until the free play of the clutch lever is between 10 to 20mm, then tighten the lock nut.
Last time I adjusted the clutch cable myself, but the shop owner said it was a bit over-adjusted. Generally, motorcycle clutch cables have an adjustment nut located below the handlebar near the clutch lever. First, loosen the lock nut, then rotate the adjustment nut to change the tension. I prefer to leave about 1-2 cm of free play, which is the gap when pulling the clutch lever. After adjustment, test ride: shifting gears with the clutch pulled should be smooth, and power engagement when releasing the clutch should be crisp. Remember to tighten the lock nut after adjustment, otherwise it may gradually loosen while riding. If it's too tight, the clutch plates wear out faster; if too loose, it's prone to slipping, especially noticeable when carrying a passenger uphill. Regularly check if the clutch cable is sticking, and apply some chain lubricant if necessary.
