How to Adjust the Tension of Haval Wiper Blades?

Open the hood and loosen the screw on the left wiper blade, then move it to the correct position and tighten the screw. After powering on, it will automatically return to the lowest position, but a section will remain exposed. At this point, loosen the screw on the right wiper blade, push the left wiper blade firmly into the hidden position, and then tighten the screw.
Adjusting the tightness of wiper blades is actually quite simple. I did it myself on my old Haval H6. First, locate the metal clip where the wiper arm connects to the windshield, and loosen the fixing nut with a 10mm wrench. At this point, you can gently rotate the wiper arm to adjust the angle—clockwise to tighten and counterclockwise to loosen. Be careful when adjusting; don’t apply too much force to the wiper blade rubber, as it can easily deform. Test the wiper every 5 degrees of adjustment until the rubber fully contacts the glass without squeaking. It’s best to adjust on a rainy day—spray some windshield washer fluid to test the wiping effect. If it still feels loose, chances are the spring inside the wiper arm is worn out, and you’ll need to replace the part.
With over a decade of car repair experience, I've seen many Haval wiper issues. Adjusting tension depends on the model. For newer models like the H9 with quick-release structures, lift the hood to locate the wiper linkage—the adjustment screw is right next to the ball joint. Use a Phillips screwdriver to turn it half a round and test the tightness, preferably when the engine is cold to avoid thermal expansion affecting precision. If the wiper jumps or leaves streaks, focus on checking whether the rubber blade is deformed or the metal bracket is rusty. Older Great Wall models often suffer from wiper arm bushing wear—adjusting the screw won't help then; the entire linkage needs replacement. After adjustment, test it multiple times, as rainy-day performance is what matters most.
Adjusting wiper tension is something I often teach newcomers in the Haval car owners group. First, pull up the wiper control lever under the left side of the driver's seat to make the wipers stand upright in the maintenance position. Then press the plastic buckle to remove the wiper blade, and you'll see an adjustment nut on the U-shaped metal connector. Loosen it with an adjustable wrench and rotate the connector - the more vertical, the tighter. Adjust until the new wiper blade naturally hangs down and fits snugly against the glass when installed. Too tight can damage the motor. For Haval vehicles, pay special attention not to force them when frozen in winter, as this can easily break the buckle.
