How to Adjust the Seats in a GL8?
2 Answers
The seat adjustment buttons for the Buick GL8 driver's seat are located on the left side of the seat cushion, featuring three adjustment functions: seat position, lumbar support, and backrest. The rear seats can be manually folded down. Move the seat position switch forward or backward to adjust the seat's position. Lift or press down on the switch to raise or lower the seat. Push the forward button to tilt the backrest forward. Move the backward button to tilt the backrest backward. Simply press the lumbar support adjustment button to adjust the height of the lumbar support bulge in the seat.
As a long-time GL8 owner with years of driving experience, I'm quite familiar with seat adjustments. The manual version is straightforward: There's a metal lever beneath the seat – pull it upward to slide the entire seat forward or backward to find a comfortable position. The backrest adjustment is located on either the left or right side of the seat, featuring a rotary handle. Turning it clockwise or counterclockwise changes the backrest angle. I prefer setting it to about one fist's distance between my back and the steering wheel, which prevents shoulder fatigue during drives. The electric version is more convenient: There's a set of buttons near the door handle or on the seat side. Use the up/down arrows to adjust seat height, front/back arrows for positioning, and a dedicated button for backrest tilt. Always adjust while parked – never during driving, safety first. Before long trips, I fine-tune the lumbar support using these buttons to avoid fatigue. Ultimately, whether manual or electric, the goal is the same: position yourself so your feet comfortably reach the pedals and your arms extend naturally.
