You can align the fuel supply point with the high-pressure pipe's fuel outlet according to the scale. Ignition advance means that the spark plug fires before the piston reaches the compression top dead center, igniting the combustible mixture in the combustion chamber. The angle through which the crankshaft rotates from the ignition moment until the piston reaches the compression top dead center is called the ignition advance angle. When the gasoline engine maintains a constant throttle opening, speed, and mixture concentration, the engine power and fuel consumption rate change with the variation of the ignition advance angle. For each operating condition of the engine, there exists an optimal ignition advance angle.

When adjusting the ignition timing, the first thing I do is ensure the engine is warmed up and running without any additional load. I use a timing light connected to the first cylinder's spark plug wire, then start the engine to observe if the mark on the crankshaft pulley aligns with the scale on the timing cover. If adjustment is needed, I loosen the distributor's mounting bolt and gently rotate it—counterclockwise to advance the timing, clockwise to retard it. This must be done carefully, as even slight errors can cause engine knocking or power loss. Modern cars with ECU control may require a scan tool to modify software settings.
