How to Adjust the Height of the Windshield Washer Nozzle?

Locate the black nozzle of the windshield washer sprayer. Inside the black nozzle, you will find a small hole, which is the outlet for the water stream. Find a paperclip. Straighten the prepared paperclip as much as possible. Gently insert the paperclip into this small hole and twist it to adjust the position of the outlet. Be patient and adjust it to the desired position.
I had just learned to drive when I encountered the issue of misaligned windshield washer nozzles. The spray was either too high, splashing onto the roof, or too low to be effective, which was quite frustrating. Later, I figured out that adjusting the height is actually quite simple. On most cars, the nozzles are located at the edge of the hood, and you can gently adjust their direction using a fine needle or toothpick—just be careful not to apply too much force, as the plastic parts can easily break. First, test the spray direction to identify where the misalignment is. If the nozzle is clogged, I use a soft brush or needle to gently remove debris, avoiding hard objects that could cause further damage. It’s best to adjust while parked for safety. Nozzle positions vary slightly by car model; my older car’s nozzles were looser and easy to adjust with a light push, but newer models may require more precision. Maintaining this function ensures clear visibility during rain, reducing the need for sudden braking. Regularly checking the washer fluid level is also important, and using high-quality fluid improves antifreeze performance.
