Open the driver's door of the car. Pull the seat adjustment switch upward, and the seat will start to rise. Push the seat adjustment switch downward, and the seat will start to lower.

I know this well! See that silver lever on the left side of the seat? Pull it up to raise the seat, push it down to lower it. With my old Honda, I had to find the right position while moving. For shorter friends, I recommend adjusting until you can see the entire hood, with about a fist's distance between your head and the roof for safety. Oh, and never adjust the seat while driving—last time I tried, I almost scraped the curb. After adjusting, wiggle a bit to make sure the latch clicks securely into place.

Teaching my cousin how to adjust the car seat last time was quite interesting. Sedans usually have a round knob or handle on the left side, while SUVs might feature small buttons with up and down arrows on the side of the seat. The electric version operates particularly smoothly—hold the up arrow and the seat gradually rises, press down and it lowers. My favorite adjustment is setting the height so my knees are at a natural bend, making it super comfortable to press the accelerator and brake. Adjusting to a height where I can see the rearview mirror at eye level ensures the rear view isn’t obstructed at all. On long trips, raising it slightly reduces lower back pressure significantly.

Adjusting the height is directly related to safety. It's recommended to sit upright with your line of sight about half a fist above the steering wheel, ensuring clear visibility of the road without your head touching the roof. At 182cm tall, I have to lower the seat to its minimum when driving a small car, otherwise, my hair rubbing against the roof is extremely uncomfortable. I remember once renting a car with a stuck adjustment lever; afraid of breaking it by forcing, I later found a coin stuck in the mechanism under the seat. Regularly spraying some WD-40 on the adjustment tracks can make the operation much smoother.

Simple three steps: First, sit down and fasten your seatbelt. With your left hand, locate the adjustment mechanism on the outer side of the seat (commonly a lever, dial, or button cluster). For power seats, look for buttons marked with ↑↓ symbols. For manual seats, simply lift or press the lever while slightly lifting your hips to assist. Listen for the gear clicks and release when you reach the desired position. As someone who enjoys mountain driving, I prefer lowering the seat for a more snug feel, while raising it when picking up kids for better visibility. Some sports cars only achieve that aggressive driving posture when the seat is at its lowest position.
