How to adjust the camshaft chain of Hyundai Santa Fe?
1 Answers
Modern Santa Fe camshaft chain adjustment method is as follows: 1. Align the timing mark on the intake side balance shaft sprocket with the copper-plated chain link. 2. Rotate the timing chain clockwise to align the chrome-plated chain link with the timing mark on the balance shaft drive sprocket of the crankshaft. After alignment, the chrome-plated chain link should be approximately at the 6 o'clock position. 3. Place the timing chain on the water pump drive sprocket. 4. Adjust the last chrome-plated chain link to align with the timing mark on the exhaust side balance shaft drive sprocket. Symptoms of camshaft damage are as follows: 1. The car has high-voltage spark but takes longer to start, though it eventually runs. 2. During starting, crankshaft reversal may occur, and backfire may appear in the intake manifold. 3. The car idles unevenly with severe shaking, similar to a cylinder misfire. 4. The car lacks acceleration and cannot pick up speed, with engine RPM exceeding 2500. 5. The vehicle experiences high fuel consumption, excessive exhaust emissions, and black smoke from the exhaust pipe.
