How to Adjust the Brightness of the Mercedes-Benz GLC Infotainment Screen?

Hold down the adjustment button on the instrument panel, and the LCD screen will respond. When the LCD screen displays TRIPB, release the adjustment button. Turn on the small light or headlight switch of the combination switch. At this point, hold down the adjustment button without releasing it, and the backlight brightness will start to adjust. It can be adjusted among three states: brightest, normal, and darkest. Release the button once the desired brightness is achieved. After adjustment, press the adjustment button again to switch the odometer display from TRIPB to ODO.
When I first started driving the Mercedes GLC, I also explored this issue. From the bottom of the main screen, find the little house icon and tap into it, then swipe to the settings option and select the display menu. There you'll find the brightness adjustment slider. I recommend turning on the automatic mode, so when entering or exiting tunnels or driving at dusk, the screen will automatically brighten or dim, which is much more convenient than manual adjustment. If you have applied a dark window film, the automatic sensor might not be as accurate, so it's advisable to manually adjust to around 70% during the day. At night, the system will link with the headlights to switch to night mode, with brightness defaulting to a lower level to avoid glare from reflections. There's no need to specifically save the settings after each adjustment—they take effect automatically upon exiting. The key is to experiment several times under different lighting conditions to find the brightness level that feels most comfortable for your eyes.
Adjusting the central control brightness depends on the system logic of the Mercedes-Benz GLC. Press the button with three horizontal lines on the left side of the steering wheel to enter the quick menu, or directly access the display settings in the vehicle settings via the central control screen. A thoughtful detail: daytime and nighttime brightness are saved separately. When adjusting nighttime brightness, remember to turn on the headlights first; otherwise, the system won't recognize you're setting nighttime mode. Auto brightness relies on the light sensor at the top of the windshield. If the screen suddenly dims on cloudy days, the sensor might be blocked by the sun visor. For those who have modified the interior, note that darker dashboards reflect less light, so brightness can be set lower to save energy. Lastly, setting brightness too high not only consumes more power but also causes the screen to heat up in summer.
Adjusting the screen brightness on the Mercedes-Benz GLC actually involves three steps: First, power on the ignition, press the vehicle icon at the bottom of the center console, and select the brightness option in the display settings. In manual mode, you can drag the slider for precise control, with over thirty levels ranging from 0 to 100%. For more convenience, the automatic function can be enabled—it determines sunrise and sunset times based on GPS positioning and adjusts in real-time with the in-car light sensor. It's recommended to keep the brightness below 40% at night, as excessive brightness can affect rearview mirror visibility. If the screen appears washed out or the text looks blurry, prioritize adjusting the brightness rather than the contrast. Modern car infotainment systems come with anti-burn-in mechanisms, so there's no need to deliberately lower the brightness to protect the screen. When parked and waiting, you can activate the screen cleaning mode to check if the brightness is suitable.
