Mercedes-Benz wiper lever is located on the outermost side of the turn signal stalk, with a windshield washer button at its tip. There are five positions: wiper off, slow auto-sensing, fast auto-sensing, manual slow wiper, and manual fast wiper. Rotate the lever to the auto-sensing position, and the car's sensors will automatically activate the wipers based on external rainfall.

The automatic wipers on a Mercedes are actually quite hassle-free, and I rely on this feature for my daily commute. You see the stalk on the right side of the steering wheel? Push it all the way up to the top for the AUTO setting. There’s a small 'A' icon marking this position. A rain sensor is hidden near the rearview mirror on the windshield, which automatically scans for raindrops on the glass. If the wipers are too fast or too slow, just twist the small knob at the end of the stalk—like adjusting the volume—toward the plus sign to increase sensitivity, making the wipers activate even in light drizzles. A crucial tip is to turn off the auto start-stop feature; otherwise, when the engine shuts off at a red light, the wipers will stop too, suddenly blurring your vision, which is dangerous. If the sensor is slow to react during heavy rain, simply push the stalk down one notch to switch to high-speed manual mode—safety is the top priority when driving in the rain.

Here's how I usually adjust the automatic wipers: gently push the wiper stalk on the right side of the steering wheel upward until you hear a click and it stops at the AUTO position. The black box at the top center of the windshield is the rain sensor probe—make sure not to cover it with tint film. The knob with plus/minus symbols at the end of the stalk is crucial: turning it clockwise to '+' increases sensitivity, making the wipers activate before raindrops fully cover the glass. This feature is especially handy when entering tunnels on rainy days, as light changes won't affect the sensing. Remember, heavy oil film on the windshield can interfere with the sensor, so I thoroughly clean it with glass cleaner every month. In winter, always check if the wiper blades are frozen to the glass beforehand, otherwise the motor can easily burn out during startup.

Adjusting the Mercedes automatic wipers is just three steps. First, push the right-hand stalk to the top AUTO position, and watch for a green raindrop icon to appear on the instrument panel, indicating activation. Then, rotate the circular knob on the stalk head—turning it toward the plus sign increases sensitivity. The sensor, which looks like a camera at the top of the windshield, should be kept clean. When rain intensity changes, there's no need for manual adjustments as it self-regulates. While waiting at traffic lights, remember to turn off the auto start-stop function to ensure the wipers continue operating without interruption from engine shutdown.
