First, power on the vehicle but do not start the engine (do not press the brake pedal). Second, set the memory seat by selecting the seat position, choose the side mirror that needs adjustment, and press the mirror adjustment selection button. Third, press the brake and shift to R gear. At this point, the selected mirror will automatically dip to the factory preset position. Finally, press the brake and shift to P gear, then press the mirror adjustment selection button once more.
When I used to drive the Volkswagen Magotan, I frequently utilized this feature. Setting it up is actually quite simple, but you need to pay attention to model differences. First, confirm that your car is equipped with electric seat memory. Then, turn the mirror adjustment knob on the driver's door to the 'R' position, representing the right side. Next, shift into reverse gear, and the right mirror will automatically tilt down slightly, or you can manually adjust it to a position where you can see the wheels. Finally, press and hold the seat memory button for a few seconds until you hear a beep to save the setting. From then on, every time you reverse, the mirror will automatically tilt down, which is extremely helpful for parallel parking. If it doesn't work, you can try restarting the vehicle or check the settings menu to see if this feature is turned off. If you encounter any issues, it's best to refer to the vehicle's manual or consult a professional technician at a 4S dealership to avoid damaging the mirror due to incorrect operation. Once you get familiar with this feature, it will significantly enhance your sense of safety while reversing.
