How to Adjust Infiniti Steering to Be Lighter?

When driving, avoid holding the steering wheel at full lock for extended periods. This can cause the power steering pump's oil pressure to drop too low, potentially damaging the pump and resulting in a heavier steering wheel. The most common reason for a heavier steering wheel is dirty power steering fluid. Like other automotive fluids, power steering fluid needs to be replaced periodically. Low tire pressure can also cause the steering wheel to feel heavier and, in severe cases, may lead to a tire blowout. If you notice the steering wheel becoming heavier, it's advisable to first check the tire pressure.
I've been driving the Infiniti QX60 for two or three years. It's been quite annoying when the steering becomes heavy during long-distance driving. Later, I figured out that adjusting it to be lighter is super simple, mainly by switching the driving mode. After starting the vehicle, go to the vehicle settings on the center screen below the left side of the steering wheel, find the driving mode option, and switch it to Comfort mode. The steering wheel will immediately feel much lighter. Additionally, remember to check the tire pressure. If it's too low, the steering can also become heavy. Always inflate the tires to the recommended value (usually indicated on the door frame label), which can save a lot of effort. If the problem persists, there might be an issue with the power steering system. Don't try to fix it yourself; take it to the dealership for a check-up to avoid safety risks. During maintenance, remind the technician to pay attention to the steering system to prevent minor issues.
