How to Adjust Car Headlights?

Car headlights can be adjusted using the headlight height adjustment button. If there is no headlight adjustment button inside the car, mechanical adjustment can be performed by opening the engine hood. Car headlights and LED daytime running lights serve as safety guarantees for drivers when driving at night or under bad weather conditions. Car headlights have high luminous intensity and sufficient brightness, ensuring that drivers can identify road conditions during nighttime driving, allowing them to promptly observe sudden road situations and stay away from danger. For headlight maintenance, after every 50,000 kilometers or approximately two years of driving, the brightness of the headlight bulbs will diminish. If the headlight brightness is found to be insufficient at this time, it is necessary to replace the bulbs promptly.
DIY car headlight adjustment is quite simple. First, park on a level surface close to a wall, about 5 to 7 meters away. Turn on the low beams, and you'll see a distinct light pattern on the wall. Open the hood, and at the rear of the headlight assembly, you'll find two adjustment screw holes: the upper one controls the beam height, and the lower one adjusts the left-right direction. Use a Phillips screwdriver to turn them slowly, about a quarter turn at a time, while observing the changes in the light pattern on the wall. For sedans, the standard low beam height is roughly 60-70 cm from the ground, while for SUVs, it should be slightly higher at 75-85 cm. Make sure not to have heavy items in the trunk during adjustment, as this can affect the vehicle's tilt. After adjustment, always do a nighttime road test to ensure the lights don't blind oncoming drivers. It's best to have two people work together—one adjusts while the other watches for accuracy. If unsure, visit a repair shop and spend about 50 yuan to have them adjust it with a level gauge.
