How to adjust a loose motorcycle throttle cable?

First, start the engine and adjust the clearance and tightness of the throttle grip, then test the acceleration. If the throttle grip feels heavy, it indicates interference in the throttle cable. You can try loosening the cable fixing screw with a screwdriver to see if the noise can be eliminated. If the cable is damaged, a "clicking" sound will occur during operation. In this case, it is best to replace it with a new cable.
Last time I rode my motorcycle, I noticed the throttle response was sluggish, and upon checking, it turned out the throttle cable was too loose. Adjusting it is actually quite simple: First, turn the handlebars all the way to one side, locate the rubber dust cover on the throttle cable, lift it up, and you’ll see the adjustment nut. Use two wrenches—one to hold the locknut in place and the other to slowly turn the adjustment nut. Make sure to test as you go; tighten it a quarter turn at a time and check the throttle play each time. Aim for about 1-2mm of free play when twisting the throttle. Too tight, and it might stick or not snap back; too loose, and acceleration will feel weak. Once adjusted, don’t forget to retighten the locknut, or it might loosen again after a few bumps. This job shouldn’t take more than 20 minutes, and all you need is a 10mm wrench. If the cable still feels loose after maxing out the adjustment, the inner cable is likely stretched and needs replacement.
