How to activate the steering wheel lift function in Mercedes-Benz?

Mercedes-Benz steering column adjustment offers both manual and electric methods. For manual adjustment, there is a lever directly below the steering column - simply pull it downward. For electric adjustment, there are three control levers on the left side of the steering column. Here are relevant details about the steering wheel: 1. Function: The steering wheel is typically connected to the steering shaft via splines. Its primary function is to convert the force applied by the driver on the wheel's rim into torque, which is then transmitted to the steering shaft. Using a larger diameter steering wheel reduces the amount of hand force required from the driver during turns. The steering intermediate shaft serves as a connector between the steering gear and steering shaft, facilitating steering gear standardization while compensating for manufacturing and installation errors. 2. Proper Grip: The correct hand position places the left hand between the 9 and 10 o'clock positions and the right hand between the 3 and 4 o'clock positions. This posture provides better body support in case of collision. If you only grip the wheel with four fingers while keeping the thumb extended along the wheel, sudden impacts (like hitting a rock or high curb) may cause the front wheels to jerk sideways, rapidly spinning the steering wheel and potentially fracturing the thumb.
