The method to activate cruise control on the new X-Trail: 1. Press the brake pedal; 2. Press the one-touch start button to start the vehicle; 3. Accelerate the vehicle to over 40 km/h; 4. Press the ON button. To accelerate, pull the control lever upward or press the accelerator. To cancel cruise control, lift the control lever upward, turn off the main cruise control switch, press the accelerator pedal, or lightly tap the brake. The new X-Trail is a classic SUV model from Dongfeng Nissan, with body dimensions of 4643mm in length, 1820mm in width, and 1725mm in height, and a wheelbase of 2706mm.
I recently picked up the new X-Trail and found the cruise control quite intuitive to figure out. First, make sure your speed is above 40 km/h, then press the CRUISE button with the dashboard icon on the right side of the steering wheel - this will illuminate a white cruise indicator on the instrument panel. Next, accelerate to your desired speed and press the adjacent SET/- button to lock in that speed. After that, you can maintain constant speed without pressing the accelerator - press RES/+ to accelerate or SET/- to decelerate. Note that you should manually take over during curves or rainy conditions, and prolonged use may cause foot numbness (best to stretch your ankles periodically). It does save significant fuel on highways, but I recommend turning it off in complex road conditions.
