How to Activate Cruise Control on the Volkswagen Tiguan?

To activate the cruise control on the Volkswagen Tiguan, press the cruise control switch located on the lower left side of the steering wheel. The principle of cruise control is as follows: the cruise control module reads the pulse signal from the speed sensor and compares it with the set speed, then issues commands. The servo mechanism mechanically adjusts the throttle opening to increase or decrease, ensuring the vehicle maintains the set speed. Taking the 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan as an example, its body structure is a five-door, five-seat SUV. The body dimensions are: length 4506mm, width 1809mm, height 1685mm, with a wheelbase of 2684mm. The fuel tank capacity is 63 liters, and the luggage compartment capacity ranges from 400 to 1530 liters. The curb weight is 1600kg.
When I drive my Tiguan, using the cruise control is quite smooth. First, accelerate the car to at least around 30 km/h, for example, press the throttle to reach 80 km/h on the highway. Then, locate the cruise control button on the lower right side of the steering wheel, which has a small icon labeled SET or CRUISE, and press it once to activate the mode. After that, press the same button again to lock the current speed, and you can release the throttle. If you want to fine-tune the speed, use the steering wheel's paddle to push up or down to increase or decrease the speed slightly, which is quite convenient. Cruise control is suitable for long-distance driving to reduce fatigue, but remember to use it on straight and smooth roads and stay focused. To temporarily cancel it, gently press the brake or hit the cancel button, and resetting it is quick too. Overall, it enhances comfort and saves fuel, and I’m used to using it every weekend when going out.
