The method to activate cruise control on the Equinox: Press the RES button to turn on cruise control, the SET button is used to set the cruising speed. Before activating cruise control, the vehicle speed should be set using this button. The +/- symbol buttons are used to control the cruise control speed, with '+' for increasing and '-' for decreasing speed. The function of cruise control is to automatically maintain the vehicle speed as required by the driver after switching it on, eliminating the need to press the accelerator pedal, thus keeping the vehicle moving at a fixed speed. The Equinox is a mid-size SUV with dimensions of 4652mm in length, 1843mm in width, and 1693mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2725mm. The Equinox features a MacPherson independent front suspension and a multi-link independent rear suspension.

When driving the Equinox on long trips, using cruise control can save a lot of effort and effectively reduce leg fatigue. Press the cruise button on the steering wheel to activate the system, and an icon will light up on the dashboard; then drive to your desired speed, such as 90 km/h, and press the set button to lock the speed. After that, release the accelerator, and the car will automatically maintain this speed. To adjust the speed faster or slower, simply press the plus or minus buttons. Canceling cruise control is also easy—just lightly tap the brake or press the cancel button to exit immediately. Remember, this feature is best used on highways or open roads, keep your hands close to the steering wheel, and stay alert to road conditions—cruise control is not autonomous driving, so don’t get careless. During regular maintenance, check the buttons for dust to prevent poor contact; maintaining a steady speed on the highway can also save some fuel and avoid extra wear from frequent acceleration.

Learning to use the Equinox cruise control is not difficult. As a beginner driving on the highway, give it a try first. Look for the small button on the right side of the steering wheel—usually marked with a cruise symbol—and press it to activate the system. Wait for the dashboard icon to light up, then accelerate to your desired speed, such as 80 km/h, and press the set button to lock the speed. After that, you can take your foot off the accelerator, and the car will maintain a steady speed. Adjust the speed using the +/- buttons; small increments are safe. To end cruise control, lightly tap the brake pedal or press the cancel button. Practice a few times on straight, flat roads to get familiar with it, but avoid using it in rainy or slippery conditions to prevent skidding. Initially, it’s easy to confuse the buttons—remember that "set" locks the speed, so don’t accidentally press the resume button. Also, cruise control won’t engage if the speed is below 40 km/h; you’ll need to reach that speed first before using it.

The Equinox's cruise control is quite convenient for daily use, especially on highways where it reduces leg fatigue. I activate the system by pressing the cruise switch in the center of the steering wheel, and the dashboard displays an icon. Then, I accelerate to the desired speed, say 100 km/h, and press the set button to lock it in. With the car maintaining speed automatically, my legs can relax, allowing me to focus on observing the road. Fine adjustments can be made easily and precisely using the plus or minus buttons to slightly alter the speed. To cancel, simply press the brake or the cancel button. This feature saves fuel and reduces fatigue, making straight-road driving much more comfortable. I highly recommend enabling it when traveling with friends.

If the Equinox cruise control won't engage, it might be minor issues. When the system isn't activated, check if the buttons are responsive; clean them if dirt causes poor contact. Low speed or abnormal brake signals (like faulty light switches) can prevent activation. A blown fuse can be found and replaced in the engine compartment fuse box. If buttons work but the function fails, it could be temporary wiring interference or module error—reset the car or take it to a 4S shop for diagnostics.
