Inside the Ford Escort, press the CANRES button to cancel cruise control or resume cruising. Introduction to Cruise Control: Cruise control is a system that allows the driver to maintain a fixed preset speed without operating the steering wheel, clutch, or accelerator pedal. By turning on the cruise control switch, the system automatically adjusts the throttle opening based on changes in road resistance to maintain a constant speed. Precautions for Cruise Control: Do not use cruise control on winding roads or slippery surfaces. On steep slopes, adjust the accelerator pedal as needed to maintain speed. When going downhill, you may need to shift gears depending on the slope.

I love using cruise control when driving my Ford Escort on the highway. After starting the car, first locate the row of buttons on the left side of the steering wheel, press the one with the speedometer icon in the middle, and a white cruise light will illuminate on the instrument panel. Then, accelerate to over 30km/h and press the SET button with the minus sign - the instrument panel light will turn green indicating successful activation. You can adjust speed using the +/- buttons, with each press changing speed by 2km/h. Pressing the brake or CANCEL button temporarily deactivates it, while the RES button resumes the set speed. Remember not to use this function in rain or snow as speed may increase unexpectedly on downhill slopes, and always keep your foot near the brake pedal.

After using it a few times, I found it to be very fuel-efficient. After starting the car, locate the cruise control switch directly below the left side of the steering wheel and press the ON button to activate the function. Drive the car to the desired speed (e.g., set it to 80 on the highway), then briefly press the SET button to lock the current speed. At this point, you don't need to press the accelerator pedal, and the car will maintain a constant speed. To increase speed, repeatedly press the RES button; to decrease speed, press the SET button. If the car ahead suddenly slows down, lightly tap the brake to pause the cruise control. Once the road conditions improve, press RES to return to the previous speed. Using this feature on long drives keeps your legs from getting tired, but remember to manually control the speed when going through curves.

Three-step operation: Turn on the system by pressing ON, accelerate to the desired speed (only effective above 30km/h), and briefly press SET to lock. To cancel cruise control, either step on the brake or press the CANCEL button—the green cruise light on the dashboard will turn off, indicating the system is deactivated. Suddenly pressing OFF may cause abrupt deceleration, which is unsafe. It's recommended for use on straight highway sections; avoid frequent activation in city traffic with constant stops and starts. The +/- buttons on the steering wheel allow for sensitive speed adjustments—just a few light presses are sufficient.
