I've been driving a Geely Emgrand for almost two years now, and even figured out CarPlay by myself. First, start the car and power it on, then connect your iPhone to the USB port on the center console using an original Apple cable—make sure not to use those short cables meant for power banks. The car's screen might pop up a prompt asking you to select CarPlay; just click confirm. If there's no response, go into the connection settings in the car's system and manually look for it. If it still doesn't work, try restarting both your phone and the car's system, or check for any phone system updates—older iOS versions can sometimes act up. The Emgrand does this well; once connected, navigation and music playback are smooth, making it safer to drive without having to look down at your phone. Oh, and try to avoid using off-brand cables—I once burned out one of mine, leaving me unable to connect for quite a while.
