When you need to use Tesla's Autopilot features, you can enable or disable certain Autopilot functions at any time via the touchscreen. The vehicle's driving assistance systems include Lane Keeping Assist System, Automatic Parking Assist System, Brake Assist System, Reverse Assist System, and Driving Assist System. Gear Position Notes: For autonomous driving, note that the vehicle can only be started in P (Park) or N (Neutral) gear. To shift out of P gear, the brake pedal must be depressed. The N gear start is used when the vehicle is to move forward immediately after starting: first, turn on the power, depress the brake, shift to N gear, then start the engine, and finally shift to D (Drive) gear to proceed. Parking After Driving: For automatic transmission vehicles, the engine must be turned off and shifted into P gear before the key can be removed. After positioning the car in the parking spot, depress the brake, shift the gear lever to N gear, engage the handbrake, release the foot brake, turn off the engine, and finally push the gear lever into P gear.
