According to Article 47 of the "Regulations on the Application and Use of Motor Vehicle Driver's Licenses", for a Category C license, you can schedule the Subject 2 test 10 days after passing Subject 1, while for Category A or B licenses, you must wait 20 days. This means that for a Category C license, you can take Subject 2 by the 30th of the same month or early the next month, whereas for Category A or B licenses, you must wait until the 10th of the following month. Each Subject 2 test appointment allows for two attempts. If you fail the first attempt, you can retake it once for free. If you do not take the retest or fail the retest, the test session ends, and you must wait 10 days before rescheduling. Within the validity period of the driver's license learning permit, you can schedule the Subject 2 test a maximum of five times. If you fail on the fifth attempt, all previously passed subjects will be invalidated, and you must restart the process from Subject 1. Subject 2 test content: The ability to complete test items while driving a motor vehicle within a designated area; mastery of motor vehicle driving skills; and the ability to judge the spatial position of the vehicle. Subject 2 is also known as the "small road test" and includes five mandatory items: reverse parking, parallel parking, hill start, right-angle turns, and S-curve driving. Subject 2 test precautions: After getting into the car, always adjust the seat and mirrors to a suitable position and state, and fasten your seatbelt. For parallel parking, remember to find the correct angle, turn the steering wheel quickly, react promptly, and coordinate with the vehicle's speed. For hill starts, remember to engage the handbrake, turn on the left turn signal when starting, release the handbrake, and stabilize the clutch while gently pressing the accelerator to avoid stalling or rolling back. For right-angle turns, quickly react to the turning point and coordinate with the vehicle's speed to avoid misalignment. For S-curve driving, slow down and proceed carefully. If you have good control during practice, you can pass through smoothly. For reverse parking, control the speed carefully, identify reference points accurately, and make minor adjustments if you notice any deviation in the rearview mirror. For example, the C1 license test consists of three subjects: Subject 1, Subject 2, and Subject 3. Subject 1 covers traffic safety laws, regulations, and related knowledge. Subject 2 is the field driving skills test. Subject 3 is divided into two parts: road driving skills and safe driving knowledge. The safe driving knowledge test is conducted after Subject 3, so it is commonly referred to as Subject 4, although the official regulations (Ministry of Public Security Order No. 123) do not use this term.

I just passed my Subject 1 test on the 20th and was super excited, thinking I should quickly arrange for Subject 2. Generally, there's a waiting period of about ten days to a month after passing Subject 1 before taking Subject 2, depending on the driving school's rules and your practice progress. At my driving school, they require at least 12 hours of practice on field exercises like reverse parking and parallel parking before the instructor helps schedule the exam. My friend waited just two weeks before taking the test and passed in one go—pretty impressive! But some people progress slower and need more time. I recommend using this period to practice more—don’t rush it. A solid foundation makes passing easier. Safety comes first; Subject 2 is all about practical skills, and taking it too early might lead to nerves, failing, and wasting money and effort. Be patient, follow your instructor’s plan step by step, and make sure to practice daily for better efficiency.

When I took my driving test a few years ago, I waited about twenty days after passing Subject 1 before taking Subject 2. During that time, I went to the driving school every day to practice, and the schedule felt quite reasonable. The key is to master the basic operations thoroughly, such as hill starts and S-curves, without rushing to book the test. From my observation, most people find a two-week gap to be safer. More practice can speed up progress, but new learners tend to get nervous—don’t make hasty decisions. Test scheduling depends on system availability, and sometimes you have to wait in line. I suggest taking a couple of days off first, then making a training plan and asking your instructor which days are available for booking. Don’t overlook safety—failing Subject 2 will only cause more trouble later. Steady and solid progress is the way to go; don’t cut corners just to save time.

I understand the driver's license test process. Generally, the interval between subject one and subject two ranges from 14 to 30 days, depending on local regulations. Driving schools usually require students to complete the training hours before allowing them to schedule the test, and students need to practice operations like reversing. I have ample experience in this area and suggest not rushing. Take a one or two-week buffer period to focus on practicing. Factors affecting test scheduling also include the traffic flow at the test center—the busier the city, the longer the queue. Building a solid foundation first leads to higher success rates.
