How old must a child be to sit in the front passenger seat?

Children aged 12 and above can sit in the front passenger seat, while children under 12 years old should not sit there for safety reasons. If a child is seen sitting in the front passenger seat, traffic police will promptly correct the situation. For the sake of life safety, children should sit in the back seat when traveling in a car, and younger children should use child safety seats. According to the Road Traffic Safety Law, the following behaviors will result in fines imposed by the traffic management department of the public security authorities: 1. Driving a motor vehicle without a motor vehicle driver's license, or during the period when the license is revoked or temporarily suspended; 2. Allowing someone without a motor vehicle driver's license, or whose license is revoked or temporarily suspended, to drive a motor vehicle; 3. Fleeing the scene after causing a traffic accident, if the act does not constitute a crime; 4. Driving a motor vehicle at a speed exceeding 50% of the prescribed limit; 5. Forcing a motor vehicle driver to violate road traffic safety laws, regulations, and safe driving requirements, resulting in a traffic accident, if the act does not constitute a crime.
