How Often Should You Start a Car That's Not in Use?

It is recommended to start a car that's not in use at least once every two weeks for the following reasons: 1. When a car remains idle for an extended period, the lubricating oil adhering to the components that require lubrication will flow back to the oil pan due to gravity, reducing the lubrication effect on moving parts; 2. Without the protection of an oil film, metal is prone to react with oxygen, forming an oxide layer that increases friction and makes starting the engine difficult; 3. If the battery does not receive a charge over a long period, the sulfation process of the battery plates will accelerate, increasing the internal resistance of the battery and shortening its lifespan; 4. The self-discharge effect of the battery can reduce its terminal voltage to below 85%, making the battery irreparable.
