How Often Should the Fuel Tank Charcoal Canister Be Replaced?
1 Answers
The vehicle's charcoal canister should be replaced every 60,000 to 70,000 kilometers. Under normal circumstances, the charcoal canister does not need replacement unless there are issues such as a strong fuel smell or abnormal engine idling. The function of the charcoal canister is to utilize the adsorption capability of activated carbon. Reasons for a strong gasoline smell during a cold start: 1. In very low external temperatures, when the water temperature and exhaust pipe temperature are low, combined with the cold start of the engine in winter, the mixture becomes too rich, leading to incomplete combustion of some of the mixture, which is then directly expelled through the exhaust pipe, resulting in a noticeable gasoline smell. 2. Another possible reason could be issues with the charcoal canister or its solenoid valve, causing an overly rich mixture during startup. 3. If the local temperature is particularly low and there is excessive carbon buildup inside the engine, poor mixture atomization can also lead to this phenomenon.
