How often should car wheels be replaced?

Car wheels should be replaced every 4 to 5 years. Do not replace wheels arbitrarily as it will definitely damage the vehicle's original factory data. Blind modification will not only increase fuel consumption but also affect power and braking performance, so wheel replacement should be done cautiously. The cylindrical metal component inside the car tire that supports the tire around the axle is the part where the axle is installed at the center of the wheel. It is an important component connecting the brake drum (brake disc), wheel disc and half shaft. When car wheels exhibit phenomena such as bending, cracking or severe corrosion, they must be replaced immediately. Otherwise, the tire may slip off the wheel or even cause the car to lose control, posing significant safety hazards to the owner.
As a veteran driver with thirty years of experience, I remember that wheel hubs basically don’t need regular replacement—just keep using them as long as they’re not damaged. However, they do have a lifespan, typically requiring inspection between 100,000 to 200,000 kilometers. Once during a long-distance trip, I heard a strange humming noise, and when I took it to the repair shop, I found the wheel hub bearing was worn out. It cost a bit to replace, but the problem was fixed. Regular maintenance, such as periodic tire balance checks and slowing down on bumpy roads, can extend the wheel hub’s lifespan. Neglecting replacement may accelerate damage to other components or even affect steering safety. In short, don’t worry too much about frequent replacements, but don’t delay if an issue arises.
