How Often Should a New Car Purchased in 2020 Undergo Annual Inspection?

For household non-commercial vehicles, i.e., private cars, there is an exemption from inspection for the first 6 years after purchase. The vehicle does not need to be inspected at the vehicle management office, but the owner must go to the traffic police station every 2 years to collect a sticker and have the vehicle registration certificate stamped. The Regulations for the Implementation of the Road Traffic Safety Law clearly stipulate the annual inspection of vehicles: Article 16 of the 'Regulations for the Implementation of the Road Traffic Safety Law of the People's Republic of China (2017)': Motor vehicles shall undergo safety technical inspections according to the following periods from the date of registration: (1) Commercial passenger vehicles must be inspected once a year within 5 years; after 5 years, once every 6 months; (2) Trucks and large or medium-sized non-commercial passenger vehicles must be inspected once a year within 10 years; after 10 years, once every 6 months; (3) Small and mini non-commercial passenger vehicles must be inspected once every 2 years within 6 years; after 6 years, once a year; after 15 years, once every 6 months.
