How often is the driving license score reset?

According to the relevant provisions of China's Road Traffic Safety Law, starting from the "initial license date" on the driving license, one year constitutes a scoring cycle, and the score is reset once per scoring cycle. The score reset date for the driving license is the issuance date indicated on the license. Article 68 of the "Regulations on the Application and Use of Motor Vehicle Driving Licenses": The scoring of a driving license is a penalty for the driver's traffic violations. Based on the severity of the road traffic safety violation, the maximum score for a single violation is 12 points, and the minimum is 1 point. Notes on driving license point deductions: If the points deducted within one scoring cycle (12 months from the "initial license date" on the driving license) do not reach 12, the driver only needs to pay the fine. At the start of the next scoring cycle, the vehicle management computer system will reset all points from the previous cycle. If the points deducted within one scoring cycle reach 12, the driver must attend a study session and pass the subject one exam at the issuing vehicle management office or the vehicle management office where the violation occurred before the full-point record can be cleared and the normal use of the driving license can be restored.
