The Road Traffic Safety Law stipulates: Driving an illegally modified motor vehicle on the road will result in a fine, revocation of the driver's license, and confiscation of the vehicle. For illegally modified motorized vehicles, the public security traffic management department will not issue a safety technical inspection qualification mark. If it constitutes a violation of public security management, the public security organs will impose penalties such as fines or detention in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Public Security Administration Punishment Law. Modifications within the legally permitted scope and applying for a change of registration with the vehicle management office at the place of registration within 10 days are considered legal modifications. Currently, modifications allowed in China include: 1. Appearance modifications: The installation of exterior parts must ensure they do not harm pedestrians during use and do not exceed a certain proportion of the vehicle's dimensions; 2. Front bumper modifications: Replacing the front bumper is considered altering the vehicle's appearance and is feasible after approval. However, modifications should not be excessive, as overly exaggerated changes may fail manual approval; 3. Vehicle color modifications: Changing the vehicle's color only requires notification and approval. Therefore, if you dislike the current color, you can apply for a change yourself. However, the vehicle body cannot have more than three main colors and must not contain advertising content. The use of colors reserved for specific vehicles is prohibited, such as fire engine red, engineering vehicle orange, police vehicle blue-white, and camouflage colors for special vehicles. Additionally, the color must not be the same as public transport vehicles, taxis, or other public service vehicles.
