New cars that meet the regulations are exempt from inspection for six years, but owners need to apply for the annual inspection compliance sticker at the vehicle management office every two years. To obtain the annual inspection compliance sticker, owners only need to bring the original vehicle registration certificate, the owner's ID card, valid original and duplicate copies of the compulsory traffic insurance policy for the current and previous year, valid proof of vehicle and vessel tax payment or tax exemption for the current year, the motor vehicle registration certificate, and proof of traffic violation resolution to the vehicle management office. According to Article 16 of the "Implementation Regulations of the Road Traffic Safety Law of the People's Republic of China," motor vehicles must undergo safety technical inspections within specified periods from the date of registration. Passenger vehicles must be inspected once a year within the first five years; after five years, inspections are required every six months. For trucks and large and medium-sized non-operational passenger vehicles, inspections are required once a year within the first ten years. After ten years, inspections are required every six months. Small and micro non-operational passenger vehicles must be inspected once every two years within the first six years; after six years, inspections are required once a year, and after 15 years, inspections are required every six months. Motorcycles must be inspected once every two years within the first four years; after four years, inspections are required once a year. Tractors and other motor vehicles must be inspected once a year. Operational motor vehicles that pass the safety technical inspection within the specified inspection period are not required to undergo repeated safety technical inspections.
