The inspection schedule is determined by the vehicle type. Apart from the 6-year exemption from inspection for small family cars, other vehicle types must undergo inspections according to the specified schedule. Below are the relevant details for vehicle inspections: 1. Operational passenger vehicles must be inspected once a year within the first 5 years; after reaching or exceeding 5 years, they must be inspected every 6 months. 2. Trucks and large or medium-sized non-operational passenger vehicles must be inspected once a year within the first 10 years; after reaching or exceeding 10 years, they must be inspected every 6 months. 3. Motorcycles must be inspected every 2 years within the first 4 years; after reaching or exceeding 4 years, they must be inspected once a year. 4. Specialized school buses must be inspected every 6 months from the date of registration. 5. Starting from November 20, as part of a unified deployment by the Ministry of Public Security, Beijing traffic authorities have expanded the exemption from inspection to include 7 to 9-seat non-operational small and micro passenger vehicles (excluding minivans) within 6 years, in addition to the existing exemption for 6-seat and below non-operational small and micro passenger vehicles (excluding minivans) within 6 years. For biennial inspections, vehicle owners can directly apply for the inspection mark from the traffic management department of the public security authority by providing proof of compulsory traffic accident liability insurance and vehicle and vessel tax payment or exemption, without the need for a safety technical inspection at an inspection institution.
