According to the "Regulations on the Application and Use of Motor Vehicle Driver's Licenses," for the Subject 3 road driving skills and safety & civilized driving knowledge test, you can only get 5 questions wrong—any more will result in failure. A score of 90 or above is required to pass, with each question worth 2 points (losing 2 points for each wrong answer). The total score is 100. Questions 1-10 are true/false; 11-40 are single-choice; and 41-50 are multiple-choice. The exam includes image analysis, animated case studies, and text-based questions. Subject 4, also known as the Subject 4 theory test or driver theory test, is part of the motor vehicle driver's license assessment. After the implementation of the Ministry of Public Security's Order No. 123, Subject 3 was divided into two parts: the road test and the safety & civilized driving knowledge test. Subject 4 is the colloquial term for the latter, not an official standalone subject. Since this test follows Subject 3, it is commonly referred to as Subject 4, though it is not officially recognized as such. The safety & civilized driving knowledge test is conducted after Subject 3. The scope of Subject 4 includes: driving knowledge under adverse weather and complex road conditions; identification of common traffic signs, markings, and gestures; accident rescue and hazardous material handling; comprehensive judgment of violations and case analysis; emergency avoidance knowledge; safe driving practices; and driving ethics and civilized driving principles. According to the "Regulations on the Application and Use of Motor Vehicle Driver's Licenses," there is no limit to the number of attempts for Subjects 1 and 4. If you fail the first attempt on the same day, you can retake it immediately. If you fail again, you must reschedule. Retakes do not require additional fees. Note that the driver's license application proof is valid for three years—if the applicant fails to complete all tests within this period, previously passed subjects will be invalidated. Subject 4 Exam Notes: Exam Duration: 45 minutes. The test terminates if you lose 12 points (6 wrong answers) during the exam. Question Count: 50 questions are randomly selected from the Subject 4 question bank based on the type of license being pursued. Question Types: Single-choice (including true/false) and multiple-choice. The first 45 questions are single-choice, and the last 5 are multiple-choice. The exam includes animated questions, image-based questions, scenario identification, and text-based questions. Retake Notes: Failing Subject 4 only requires retaking Subject 4. You can schedule retakes through your driving school or independently, with no limit on attempts. No additional fees are required for retakes. The driving test consists of 3 subjects: Subject 1, Subject 2, and Subject 3 (which is further divided into two parts). Subject 1 covers traffic laws and regulations; Subject 2 focuses on field driving skills; and Subject 3 includes road driving skills and safety & civilized driving knowledge.
