Overtaking by borrowing the lane when queuing for parking will result in a deduction of 2 points. According to Article 45, Paragraph 1 and Article 90 of the Road Traffic Safety Law, as well as the Regulations on the Application and Use of Motor Vehicle Driver's Licenses, when encountering a situation where the vehicle ahead is queuing for parking or moving slowly, overtaking by borrowing the lane, occupying the opposite lane, or cutting into the queue of waiting vehicles will also result in a 2-point deduction. Motor vehicle drivers who commit any of the following violations will be penalized with a 2-point deduction: Driving a motor vehicle through an intersection without following traffic rules or parking improperly; driving a motor vehicle while making or answering phone calls or engaging in other activities that hinder safe driving; riding a two-wheeled motorcycle without wearing a safety helmet; driving a motor vehicle on highways or urban expressways without fastening the seatbelt as required. When encountering a situation where the vehicle ahead is queuing for parking or moving slowly, overtaking by borrowing the lane, occupying the opposite lane, or cutting into the queue of waiting vehicles; failing to equip school buses with safety devices as required or failing to perform safety maintenance on school buses as required; driving a school bus carrying students without displaying the school bus sign, turning on the school bus indicator light, or following the approved route. School buses picking up or dropping off students without stopping at designated school bus stops as required; school buses driving on the road without carrying students but using school bus signs, indicator lights, or parking signs; driving a school bus on the road without checking whether the vehicle meets safety technical requirements or driving a school bus with safety hazards; refueling the vehicle while students are on board or leaving the driver's seat before the engine is turned off.
I've been driving on the road for over twenty years and have witnessed all kinds of lessons from traffic violations. One of the most common mistakes is overtaking by borrowing lanes while waiting in a queue at a stop. From what I understand, this can result in a 3-point deduction and a fine of around 200 yuan. Once, when I was traveling to the outskirts with a friend, there was a long line in front of the highway toll booth. He saw someone get pulled over by the police for overtaking using the non-motorized vehicle lane and was issued a ticket on the spot, regretting it afterward. The point deduction may seem minor, but accumulating a few can lead to the suspension of your driver's license or requiring you to retake the test. The more serious risk is the potential for accidents: visibility is limited when queuing, and overtaking can easily lead to hitting pedestrians or causing chain collisions. I suggest everyone learn from me to handle traffic jams calmly—leave early or listen to some music to relax. Developing good driving habits can reduce tickets, and getting home safely is the most time-saving approach.
