New drivers can lose a maximum of 11 points in their first year with a new license. Driver's License: A driver's license has a total of only 12 points, but starting from the date of initial issuance, the points are renewed annually. For example, if the initial issuance date of the license is August 8, 2020, then up to 12 points can be deducted before August 7, 2021. On August 8, 2021, the driver will have 12 points again. Probation Period for New License: If a new driver accumulates 12 points during the probation period, their highest permitted driving category qualification will be revoked. If a driver accumulates more than 6 points but less than 12 points within the one-year probation period, the probation period will be extended by one year. If the driver again accumulates more than 6 points but less than 12 points during the extended probation period, their probationary driving category qualification will be revoked.
