Reversing against the traffic flow results in a deduction of 3 points and a fine of 200 yuan. According to Article 35 of the 'Road Traffic Safety Law of the People's Republic of China': Motor vehicles and non-motor vehicles shall drive on the right side. Vehicles driving against the traffic flow will be fined. Motor vehicles driving in reverse will be penalized with a deduction of 3 points and a fine. Reversing on highways results in a deduction of 12 points and a fine. According to Order No. 123 of the Ministry of Public Security, the point deduction standards for vehicles driving in reverse are as follows: 1. If a motor vehicle driver commits any of the following violations, 12 points will be deducted at once: Driving a motor vehicle in reverse, against the traffic flow, or making a U-turn across the central divider on a highway. 2. If a motor vehicle driver commits any of the following violations, 3 points will be deducted at once: Driving a motor vehicle without overtaking or yielding as required, or driving against the traffic flow. 3. The penalty for driving against the traffic flow as stipulated in Article 90 of the 'Road Traffic Safety Law': If a motor vehicle driver violates the road traffic safety laws and regulations regarding road traffic rules, a warning or a fine of not less than 20 yuan but not more than 200 yuan shall be imposed. If there are other provisions in this Law, the penalties shall be imposed in accordance with those provisions.
When I first got my driver's license, I was caught reversing at a busy intersection in the city and got 3 points deducted plus a 200-yuan fine, which really hurt. Traffic rules state that reversing in no-reversing zones, such as tunnels, one-way streets, and expressway entrances, results in an immediate 3-point deduction because these areas have heavy traffic, and reversing can easily cause rear-end collisions or accidents. Now, I drive very carefully, always checking the route map before parking and planning the exit position to avoid reversing. Safety is more important than points deduction. New drivers should pay extra attention to road signs, familiarize themselves with no-reversing zones, and develop good driving habits to avoid trouble.
