How many more years can a China III emission standard sedan be used?

China III emission standard sedans can be used until they fail the annual inspection and are then scrapped. The so-called China III standard refers to China's third-stage vehicle emission standard. The mandatory scrapping period for China III trucks is 15 years; for private China III cars, the scrapping mileage is 600,000 kilometers. Additionally, the mandatory scrapping period for China III light-duty and heavy-duty trucks is 10 years, but this can be extended up to 5 years, making the maximum mandatory scrapping period for China III trucks 15 years. Starting from January 1, 2008, and July 1, 2008, vehicles that do not meet the "China III standard" are prohibited from being sold or registered. China's third-stage emission standard is equivalent to the Euro III emission standard, meaning the content of tailpipe pollutants is similar to that of Euro III. However, the difference between the two is that China III vehicles must be equipped with an OBD, or On-Board Diagnostics system. The features of the OBD system include an increased number of monitoring points and monitoring systems, with oxygen sensors installed at both the inlet and outlet of the three-way catalytic converter.
