Dongfeng Captain Starlight has multiple models. The models are K5, K6, K7, and K8. The product codes are K5, K6, K7, and K8. Dongfeng Captain Starlight is a light truck vehicle. There are many types of vehicles. Vehicle types: Vehicle types refer to a form of vehicle distinguished by common features, intended use, and functions. For example, sedans, trucks, buses, trailers, and incomplete vehicles are all separate types. Vehicle classification: Heavy-duty vehicles have a length greater than or equal to 6m and a total mass greater than or equal to 12,000kg. Medium-duty vehicles have a length greater than or equal to 6m and a total mass greater than or equal to 4,500kg but less than 12,000kg. Light-duty vehicles have a length less than 6m and a total mass less than 4,500kg. Mini vehicles have a length less than or equal to 3.5m and a load capacity less than or equal to 1,800kg.

I've been driving light trucks for transportation for ten years, and I'm quite familiar with the Dongfeng Kaptur Starlight. There are basically two models: single-row and double-row cabs. The single-row cab has only one row of seats, with a cargo box that can hold goods over four meters long. The double-row version has a rear seat that can accommodate three or four people, making it convenient for carrying loading and unloading workers. However, further customization is available based on customer needs. For example, some are equipped with a 2.0T diesel engine, while others have a 3.0T, with a horsepower difference of over 20. The cargo box lengths also vary, ranging from 3.7 to 4.2 meters, and the chassis height can be selected. Our fleet has seven Starlight trucks with four different configurations—high chassis double-row for construction materials and single-row with extended cargo boxes for express delivery.

Last time I accompanied a friend to the Dongfeng 4S store to check out cars, the salesperson gave a detailed introduction to the Captain Starry Sky. There are essentially two cab models: the single-row version has a larger cargo compartment suitable for hauling goods, while the double-row version comes with foldable rear seats for passengers. But the details go much deeper—for instance, the cargo box lengths range from 3.7 to 4.3 meters, tire sizes come in 16-inch and 17-inch options, and there’s even a refrigerated model equipped with a cooling unit. The price difference between the gasoline and diesel versions exceeds 20,000 yuan, with the China VI emission standard models being more expensive but allowed in urban areas. According to the salesperson’s stored data, the store alone offers five configuration combinations.

Old Wang, who runs transportation in the village, bought a single-row Kaptur Starlight last year. He said this vehicle series actually only comes in two cab structures: single-row and double-row. The single-row version like his has a cargo box up to four meters long, while the double-row version adds an extra row of seats but shortens the cargo box by thirty centimeters. There are quite a few engine options—he chose the 2.3-liter one, which is sufficient for hauling three tons of goods; his neighbor Old Li bought the 3.0-liter version, which costs twenty thousand more. It also comes in high and low configurations—the low version lacks a reversing camera, while the high version comes with an LCD screen.
