Volkswagen has two logos, one is 'Shanghai Volkswagen' and the other is 'Skoda'. Volkswagen: Volkswagen AG (German: Volks-Wagenwerk), meaning 'the people's car', has undergone several changes in its logo history. The VW in the logo stands for the first letters of its full name. The logo resembles three 'V's formed by the middle and index fingers, symbolizing the company and its products' determination to win - win - win. Skoda: Skoda (SKODA), one of the classic brands under Volkswagen AG, is headquartered in Mladá Boleslav, Czech Republic, and is one of the four oldest car manufacturers in the world. The brand was established in 1895. In 2006, the Skoda Octavia began production at Shanghai Volkswagen, becoming the third Volkswagen Group brand to be produced in China after Volkswagen and Audi, and was launched at the Beijing International Auto Show in the same year.

I've always been fascinated by the evolution of automobile brand logos, especially Volkswagen's. It started with its design in the 1930s during Nazi Germany, featuring gear elements that gave it an industrial look. After the war in 1945, to distance itself from negative historical associations, the logo was simplified to just the VW initials within a circle. The 1960s brought a modern update with smoother lines. Today's 21st-century design is the most minimalist—a blue circle with the VW letters, symbolizing unity and reliability. Throughout its history, there have been roughly four major versions, each retaining core elements while reflecting changes in automotive design trends and societal influences. Vintage car collectors often discuss the differences seen on models from various eras, such as spotting older logos on Beetles or Type 1s.

The Volkswagen issue easily brings to mind the entire group level. The Volkswagen Group owns multiple automotive brands, each with its own exclusive logo: Volkswagen features a blue circle with VW, Audi has four rings, Porsche displays a shield with a horse, Skoda uses a winged arrow, and Seat adopts an S-shaped pattern, among others. In the Chinese market, we also commonly see sub-brands like Jetta and Lavida using the Volkswagen logo. So from a group perspective, there are indeed multiple logos. However, if we're talking about the Volkswagen brand itself, there's only one main logo used across all models, such as on the front of a Golf or Tiguan. Understanding these distinctions can help car enthusiasts differentiate between models and choose the right maintenance parts.

I've been driving Volkswagen cars for over twenty years, from the classic Santana to the current Magotan. There's only one emblem on the car, positioned on the front grille - a blue circle with the VW lettering. Simple and straightforward, I've never encountered a second version of the emblem. Mechanics always say this design is stable and easy to recognize, making daily maintenance convenient. If asked how many there are, I believe there's only one classic emblem. Occasionally, there might be subtle variations on limited editions like the GTI, but the core design remains consistent, reflecting the brand's uniformity.

Why Shouldn't You Coast in Neutral When Driving Downhill?

Driving downhill in neutral is not recommended for the following specific reasons: 1. When coasting in neutral, the car loses the engine's braking effect. During descent, due to gravity, the vehicle's speed will increase continuously. Without the engine's braking force, the braking distance increases significantly, meaning the effectiveness of braking is greatly reduced, putting the vehicle in an uncontrolled state. If an obstacle appears ahead, the driver may be unable to slow down or stop the vehicle in time, creating a major safety hazard. 2. The likelihood of the car stalling increases when coasting in neutral. If the car stalls for any reason, it will immediately lose power steering and brake assist, resulting in complete loss of control. The consequences in such a situation are unimaginable. 3. For automatic transmission vehicles, coasting in neutral can cause the transmission to lose lubrication, increasing wear and tear on the transmission system.

Steps for Checking Automotive Air Conditioning Pressure

Steps for checking automotive air conditioning pressure are as follows: 1. Before inspection, check and clean the inspection connector of the air conditioning system and the high and low pressure connection connectors on the air conditioning pressure gauge; 2. Check the air conditioning pressure gauge to ensure that both the high and low pressure valves are properly closed and all connection connectors are securely fastened; 3. Connect the high and low pressure hoses of the air conditioning pressure gauge to the high and low pressure service diagnostic connectors via quick connectors, ensuring the air conditioning is turned off during connection; 4. After connection, turn on the air conditioning, read the high and low pressure values, and record them; 5. After inspection, first turn off the air conditioning and the engine, then disconnect the air conditioning pressure gauge from the service diagnostic connectors; 6. After disconnection, also check the service diagnostic connectors on the automotive air conditioning refrigeration system for any signs of leakage.

What is the suspension of the Volkswagen Passat?

Passat front is MacPherson, rear is multi-link independent suspension. The material is iron casting. Passat suspension has the following advantages: 1. MacPherson structure is simple, under the geometry of swing arm and pillar, it can automatically adjust the wheel camber angle, allowing it to adapt to the road surface when cornering, maximizing tire contact area. 2. Multi-link suspension, through various link configurations (three-link, four-link, five-link), achieves all the performance of double wishbone suspension. Based on double wishbone, the connection of links and axle constraints allows the toe angle to change accordingly when the tire moves up and down, providing better cornering adaptability.

What is the principle of the ABS system?

The principle of the ABS system is: during braking, the ABS quickly determines the wheel lock-up state based on the speed signals from each wheel speed sensor, closes the normally open input solenoid valve on the wheel that is beginning to lock, and keeps the braking force constant. If the wheel continues to lock, the normally closed output solenoid valve is opened, and the braking pressure on that wheel rapidly decreases due to the direct connection to the brake fluid reservoir, preventing the wheel from completely locking due to excessive braking force. The functions of ABS are: 1. Maximize the effectiveness of the brakes, reducing braking time and distance; 2. Effectively prevent vehicle skidding and fishtailing during emergency braking, ensuring good driving stability; 3. Allow steering during emergency braking, providing good steering control; 4. Avoid severe friction between the tires and the ground, reducing tire wear.
