The Damy x5 requires 6 liters of automatic transmission fluid. Function of the transmission: The transmission is a mechanism used to alter the speed and torque from the engine. It can fix or change the gear ratio between the output shaft and the input shaft, also known as the gearbox. Changing the gear ratio meets the traction needs under different driving conditions, allowing the engine to operate as much as possible under favorable conditions and meeting the required driving speeds. It enables a wide range of changes in the vehicle's speed and the torque on the driving wheels. Due to varying driving conditions, the vehicle's speed and driving torque need to be adjustable over a wide range. Classification of vehicle transmissions: They are divided into manual and automatic types. Manual transmissions mainly consist of gears and shafts, achieving speed and torque changes through different gear combinations. Automatic transmissions (AT), on the other hand, are composed of a torque converter, planetary gears, and a hydraulic control system, achieving speed and torque changes through hydraulic transmission and gear combinations.

Last year, I just changed the automatic transmission fluid for my Damy X5 and specifically asked the technician at the 4S店. He said that a gravity drain requires about 5 liters of fluid because the drain plug can only release a portion of the old fluid. If you opt for a machine flush, it’s more thorough but requires 10-12 liters, though it’s significantly more expensive. When changing the fluid, pay special attention to checking the fluid level—drive the car for about 5 kilometers to warm the fluid to around 50°C, then cycle through all the gears before checking the dipstick for an accurate reading. I recommend checking the maintenance instructions on page 80 of your owner’s manual, as there might be slight differences between model years. Also, the fluid change interval is crucial—if you do a lot of stop-and-go city driving, change it every 40,000 km, but if you mostly drive on highways, you can stretch it to 60,000 km.

As an enthusiast who frequently tinkers with cars, I've found that transmission fluid levels are quite particular. For the DaMai X5 automatic transmission, if it's a CVT, a gravity drain and fill of 4.5-5 liters is sufficient. However, pay attention to the fluid change method: if you remove the oil pan, prepare an extra 0.5 liters to flush out residual sludge. I've personally measured the amount of old fluid recovered, which was around 4.8 liters, so be careful not to exceed this amount when adding new fluid. There's also a trick to fluid selection—you must use factory-certified CVT fluid, as the wrong type can damage the steel belt. After the fluid change, let the car idle for ten minutes before test-driving to check shift smoothness. If there's any jerking, take it back to the shop immediately for inspection.

Last time during maintenance, the technician explained in detail that there are two methods for changing the automatic transmission fluid in the DaMai X5. For a standard gravity drain, prepare 5 liters of oil, which can replace about 70% of the old fluid. For a thorough cleaning, a flushing machine is required, and you'll need to purchase 3 cans of 4-liter oil. During the fluid change, the filter screen should also be inspected; the presence of metal shavings indicates wear in the transmission. The oil filler port is located on the left side of the engine compartment and requires a special funnel. It's best to check the oil level after the engine is warm, as a cold engine measurement may be inaccurate. It's recommended to change the fluid every three years or 60,000 kilometers. Prolonged neglect can cause the oil to turn black, affecting heat dissipation.

What to Do When All Driving Points Are Deducted?

If all the points on your driver's license are deducted, meaning a total of 12 points have been accumulated, you are not allowed to drive. Below is relevant information regarding the deduction of points on a driver's license: 1. Solution: The motor vehicle driver must, within fifteen days, attend a seven-day study session on road traffic safety laws, regulations, and related knowledge at the traffic management department of the public security organ where the driver's license was issued or where the violation occurred. After completing the study, the vehicle management office shall conduct an examination on road traffic safety laws, regulations, and related knowledge within twenty days. If the examination is passed, the points will be cleared, and the driver's license will be returned. If the examination is failed, the driver must continue to participate in study and examination. 2. Legal Basis: Article 68 of the "Regulations on the Application and Use of Motor Vehicle Driver's Licenses": If a motor vehicle driver accumulates 12 points within a scoring cycle, the traffic management department of the public security organ shall detain the driver's license. If a motor vehicle driver accumulates 12 points or more twice within a scoring cycle or accumulates 24 points or more, the vehicle management office shall also conduct a road driving skills test within ten days after passing the examination on road traffic safety laws, regulations, and related knowledge.

What to Do When the License Plate Retention Period Expires After One Year?

Within one year after transferring or deregistering the old vehicle, you can apply to the vehicle management office to retain the original license plate during this period. Previously, license plates had to be used for more than three years before they could be retained. Many car owners who wanted to change vehicles waited for three years to do so in order to keep their license plates. If there were any road violations or fines incurred while driving the original vehicle, all fines must be paid before applying to retain the original license plate number.
