How many kilometers should a new car be driven during the break-in period?

A new car should be driven approximately 3,000 kilometers during the break-in period. During this time, avoid sudden acceleration and braking, as well as excessive loads. Simply drive according to road conditions, keeping the engine speed below 3,000 RPM, maintaining speeds under 80 km/h in normal conditions, and not exceeding 100 km/h on highways. Additionally, take a 10-minute break every two hours. If the new car is frequently in low-speed, low-RPM traffic congestion, it is advisable to occasionally drive at higher speeds. This is because low speeds result in slower oil circulation, and under high temperatures, oxidation can lead to increased carbon deposits. Initially, it is not recommended to drive at high speeds during the break-in period—maximum speed should not exceed 100 km/h, and engine speed should not surpass 3,000 RPM. It is suggested to drive 2,500 kilometers first, then perform a high-speed run before the first maintenance and engine oil change.
