I drive for ride-hailing, and last year I drove the XPeng P7 480 version for half a year. In actual usage, with the AC on in summer, it could run just over 420 km in the city, and about 380 km on the highway at around 110 km/h. In cold winters, the range drops drastically, often halving. Once, I took an airport round trip with the heater on, and the displayed range dropped by 200 km, but I only actually drove 130 km. I suggest estimating daily usage at 70-80% of the official range, especially in northern winters—don’t trust the official figures.

What does it mean when the engine icon appears on the dashboard?

The appearance of the engine icon on the dashboard indicates an engine malfunction. This is an engine fault warning light, which usually lights up due to issues with the engine's electronic control system, sensors, or wiring. It serves as a reminder for the driver to promptly visit a 4S shop to address the problem. Common symbols frequently encountered on the car dashboard include: 1. Handbrake indicator light: It lights up when the handbrake is engaged, displaying a red exclamation mark; 2. Seatbelt reminder light: Most modern car models are equipped with this feature. If the seatbelt is not fastened, a small red figure with a strap across its chest will appear, resembling a little person holding a sword. The light turns off once the seatbelt is fastened or when you exit the vehicle; 3. Engine oil pressure indicator light: An icon shaped like a "kettle" on the dashboard represents the engine oil pressure indicator. It lights up when there is abnormal engine oil pressure. During car startup, the engine oil pressure indicator will illuminate, but it will turn off if the oil pressure is normal.

How Often Should Car Gear Oil Be Changed?

Car gear oil should be changed every 40,000 kilometers. The specific replacement interval should be determined based on the manufacturer's recommendations, as the service life of gear oil depends on factors such as the vehicle model, oil quality, usage conditions, and driving habits. Gear oil is a high-viscosity lubricant specifically designed to protect power transmission components and typically has a strong sulfur odor. Vehicle gear oil is classified by performance and viscosity. Currently, the American Petroleum Institute (API) performance classification and U.S. military gear oil specifications are widely adopted worldwide.

What's the reason for the sudden failure to start the GAC Trumpchi GS8?

Reasons for the sudden failure to start the GAC Trumpchi GS8: 1. Out of fuel, the fuel gauge shows below the red line; 2. Dead battery, possibly due to prolonged headlight usage or battery life expiration—generally, it's recommended to replace the battery every 2 years; 3. Installation of xenon headlights, high-power audio systems, or DVD players causing vehicle circuit malfunctions; 4. Incorrect gear position. For automatic transmission vehicles, the gear must be in P or N position to start. If placed in R or D position, the vehicle won't start. Some manual transmission vehicles may also fail to start if the clutch isn't depressed. Regarding body dimensions, the GAC Trumpchi GS8 measures 4835mm in length, 1910mm in width, and 1785mm in height.

Can a Single Turbo Be Upgraded to Twin Turbos?

A single turbocharger cannot be upgraded to twin turbos. A twin-turbo system utilizes two independent turbochargers and is typically installed on larger-displacement engines such as inline-6 or V-type configurations. When both turbochargers operate together, intake efficiency significantly improves, boosting performance becomes more pronounced, and power output increases substantially. This setup can mitigate turbo lag but cannot eliminate it entirely. Working principle of twin-turbo: At low engine speeds, only a smaller low-speed turbo operates, requiring less exhaust flow to spin the turbine quickly and generate sufficient intake pressure, thereby reducing turbo lag. As engine speed increases, the high-speed turbo engages, transitioning into a high-boost state to deliver consistent and robust power.
