How many hours can a driver drive continuously?

Drivers are not allowed to drive continuously for more than four hours. Legal basis: According to Article 62 of the "Regulations for the Implementation of the Road Traffic Safety Law of the People's Republic of China", the following behaviors are prohibited while driving a motor vehicle: driving when the doors or compartments are not properly closed; hanging or placing items that obstruct the driver's view within the front or rear windows of the motor vehicle's cab; making or answering handheld phone calls, watching TV, or engaging in other activities that hinder safe driving; stalling or coasting in neutral on steep slopes; throwing items onto the road; driving a motorcycle with hands off the handlebars or hanging items on the handlebars; driving continuously for more than 4 hours without stopping to rest or stopping for less than 20 minutes; honking the horn in no-honking zones or sections. Problems that may arise from prolonged driving: Engine overheating is extremely dangerous and may, in unfortunate cases, lead to engine damage. Another issue to be aware of during long drives is brake fade. Brake fade refers to the phenomenon where the braking system loses effectiveness due to high temperatures generated by intense friction between the brake discs and brake pads.
