There are a total of six generations of Passat, released in 1973, 1980, 1988, 1993, 1996, and 2005 respectively. The specific details about the Passat are as follows: 1. Origin of the Passat: 34 years ago, Volkswagen AG abandoned the technology of air-cooled engines and rear-wheel drive, introducing front-wheel drive design represented by the first-generation Passat. The Passat brand has since developed through six generations, with a total production exceeding 14 million units. 2. The Concept of Passat as a B-Class Car: The so-called B-class car is Volkswagen Group's internal classification for mid-size sedans.
