How many generations of Civic models are there?

Civic currently on sale is the facelifted tenth-generation model. As a compact sedan under Dongfeng Honda, the Civic has launched multiple variants to cater to consumers' preferences in different countries, including three-door hatchback, hardtop coupe, hybrid version, and five-door sedan version. The chrome decoration on the front is no longer exaggerated, replaced by a more integrated and fuller horizontal grille design, enhancing the front's solidity and unity. The side profile features bold lines with a fastback design, combining the characteristics of both sedans and sports cars. The entire roofline slopes down to cover the rear, making it resemble a crossover-style model like the 3 Series GT more than a traditional sedan.
I consider myself a long-time Honda enthusiast, having followed the Civic series since the first generation in 1972. That two-door compact car amazed the automotive world with its CVCC engine. Half a century later, the latest is the eleventh generation launched in 2021, making it a full eleven generations. The most memorable for me was the sixth-generation EK9 Type R—the roar of its red-top engine remains unforgettable to this day. The eighth-generation FA1, known as CIIMO in China, had great tuning potential. The tenth-generation FC1 introduced turbocharging. Each generation has evolved, and now the eleventh generation adds a hybrid version and the Honda Sensing 3.0 safety system. Younger folks might find older cars lacking in features, but their mechanical quality was truly solid.
