There are two generations of the BMW 1 Series. The first-generation models have chassis codes starting with 'e', while the second-generation models have chassis codes starting with 'f'. Among the second-generation models, there is a version specifically designed for the Chinese market, which is the domestically produced three-box 1 Series. Apart from the three-box version, all other 1 Series models are imported. The domestically produced 1 Series is built on the UK front-wheel-drive platform. The BMW 1 Series domestic version is equipped with two engines: one is a 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine, and the other is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The 1.5-liter turbocharged engine delivers 140 horsepower and a maximum torque of 220 Nm. This engine features direct fuel injection technology and uses an aluminum alloy cylinder head and block. It is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. The front suspension of the BMW 1 Series uses a MacPherson independent suspension, while the rear suspension employs a multi-link independent suspension.
