A driver's license can be overdue for up to three years. Overdue within one year: For a driver's license without an extension application, the overdue period must not exceed 3 years. Within these 3 years, the longer the overdue period, the more complicated the renewal process becomes. A driver's license overdue within 1 year can still be renewed normally, but driving with it is not allowed and is considered unlicensed driving. Overdue within three years: If a driver's license is overdue for between 1 to 3 years, it will be locked. To renew it, the owner must go to the DMV and pass the subject one exam. Only after passing the subject one make-up exam can the license be renewed normally. However, if the overdue period exceeds 3 years, the driver's license will be forcibly invalidated and completely expire.
