How Many Days Can a Car Battery Sit Without Being Used?

Under normal circumstances, the number of days a car battery can sit without being used depends on its capacity and level of degradation. Generally, a car battery can remain idle for up to two months without affecting its normal operation. When parking the car for an extended period, disconnecting the positive and negative terminals of the battery can prevent natural power drain. For cars in poorer condition, if the battery runs out of power within about a week, simply starting the car and driving normally for one to two hours can restore the battery to its normal charge. If the car is in such a severe condition that the engine cannot be started, a jump start may be required to activate the generator.
