Volvo V60's T5 engine has four cylinders. This model is equipped with two types of engines: one is the T4 engine, and the other is the T5 engine. The Volvo V60 T4 is a low-power version of the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, while the T5 is a high-power version of the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, both of which are four-cylinder. The Volvo V60 is built on the SPA scalable modular architecture, featuring dynamic aesthetic design, and offers two exterior styles: Inscription luxury edition and R-Design sports edition. In terms of body dimensions, the Volvo V60 measures 4761mm in length, 1850mm in width, and 1432mm in height.

I've studied Volvo's engine lineup. The T5 version of the V60 uses a 4-cylinder in-line Drive-E engine with quite aggressive power tuning, delivering around 254 horsepower. This 2.0T engine features turbocharging and direct fuel injection, providing quick response when driving, with urban fuel consumption around 9L. In recent years, Volvo has rolled out four-cylinder engines across its entire range, even using them in the 90 series. The lightweight design is excellent, and the engine bay layout is compact, making maintenance like spark plug replacement particularly convenient. If you've driven the older five-cylinder engines, you'll notice the new engines show massive improvements in vibration control.

During the test drive of the V60 T5, I specifically checked the engine bay and confirmed it's a four-cylinder unit with 2.0L displacement and twin-charging. This generation of Drive-E design is quite clever—the aluminum alloy block significantly reduces weight, and when paired with the 48V mild hybrid system, the start-stop function is almost imperceptible. Actually, Volvo phased out the five-cylinder engines many years ago; now the entire T4/T5/T6 lineup is based on four-cylinder engines, just with different tuning. My friend's car has covered 100,000 kilometers without any oil leaks, proving its reliability is indeed solid.

The T5 is a four-cylinder engine, and Volvo's current engine strategy is very consistent. It's quite impressive that the 2.0T can squeeze out over 250 horsepower, paired with an 8AT transmission, and the low-speed jerkiness is much less than the older models. If you flash the Polestar program, the horsepower can reach 265, but the factory settings balance fuel consumption and durability, making it perfectly adequate for urban commuting.

Once you've driven the V60 T5, you'll know it features a classic four-cylinder layout with turbo engagement at just 1500 RPM, making overtaking exceptionally crisp. Volvo's current engine generation boasts high modularity, sharing T5 components with models like the S60 and XC60. It's recommended to regularly use high-quality engine oil, as direct injection engines are prone to carbon buildup. Adding a bottle of fuel additive every 20,000 kilometers can help extend its lifespan.
